What Information Should I Give In My Pet’s RFID Registration?
Answer: Just enough information to get your pet BACK to you. It is unlikely that whatever information you give will be available to honorless people who skim websites for addresses to send marketing material to. For me? I’d put my name and office phone number. Other folks might use a secondary mailing address.
How Can I Prevent Being Spammed?
There are two factors: To end up looking at your contact information via a Google search, a person would kinda need your pet’s RFID information to even look for you. Once they found you, collection of your name and phone number would be a manual process because we have set this up so you can’t “highlight” and “copy” anyone’s information. So it would LITERALLY be a handwritten data harvest.
The second factor is that even though the site is made in TWO layers for Google Search, and the second layer is only open to Google, you won’t really give enough information to be spammed via email, telemarketed and postal mailed unless you find some way to include all that information. We think you should choose a good form of contact and use ONE communication method. But suit yourself.
Use your Vet’s contact information? Register your RFID with the issuer of your pet’s Rabies tag. Simply register the RFID and include your Veterinarians information AND the Rabies tag number. That can be done in the “Additional Details” box.

Here’s how that works: (May result in delays) Someone scans your pet and enters the RFID code in Google. Your pet pops up. Your personal contact information is withheld and they see your pets Rabies tag number and vet’s information. You should include the Rabies tag YEAR so a searcher can “know” that the listing is current. They can then call the Vet with the RFID or Rabies tag number; and the Vet can pull up the Rabies shot record and can hopefully reach you. Your vet might NOT have your RFID information so be SURE to put your Rabies-shot-and year information. If you had shots from a Feedstore or card-table Shotsvet, this will not work because those clowns are always on the road, and won’t get back with you in a time-critical fashion on shot records. Your pet will sit in an emergency room without a registered owner until it’s bounced.
What We Collect and Store:
- Details you submit to create your pet’s RFID Registration are searchable by Google.
- If your pet is scanned, and finders type the RFID into any search bar on a browser accessing Google, they’ll find your pet’s RFID on Chippedpets.com
- Whatever information you’ve entered will be available to the finder.
- The search strings you may enter to find the owner of a pet you’ve found with a chip.
What We Do With Your Information:
Nothing. It’s stored on the server. We don’t collect enough information to allow you to be ‘hacked’ because this is just a “contact the owner” type site. No address, date or financial information is collected nor stored. We do NOT sell information, nor partner with anyone who needs our mailing list. We make no mailings of our own.
